When you want to do something badly enough, you find a way. It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, you keep getting up again and you move forward.

However, there’s a sure fire way to stop this progress in its tracks—by shutting down, quitting and saying “no” when you need to say “yes”. I’ve always believed that “yes” is the single most powerful word in your vocabulary, and that you’re never too old and it’s never too late to embrace a new experience.

I’ll give you a personal (and somewhat silly) example. I had a few friends over to celebrate the New Year, so we brought out a bottle of Champagne to enjoy. I was about to pop it open when I paused, stepped back and said:

“I’ve never done this before!”

Believe it or not, I had never opened up a bottle of champagne!

I looked at my guests, then at the bottle of champagne, then back at my guests and back at the champagne. Would I ask someone else to do it, or would I roll up my sleeves, grab that cork and give it a yank?

I decided to say “yes” to a new experience, and with a great loud “pop” the results were sweet, bubbly and delicious!

Here are 5 reasons you should uncork new experiences by committing to say “yes” to 2015!

1. Remember, you have nothing to lose—and everything to gain! You’ve probably heard that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results. The only way that you can make a meaningful change to your health, wealth and happiness is by trying something new!

2. A “Yes” attitude gets you ahead. Both personally and professionally, we gravitate toward people who are positive and motivated. So, when opportunity presents itself, grab hold of it and don’t let go.

3. “Yes” is good for your health. Mental stimulation has been shown to improve your overall health. If you’re saying “no”, you’re not learning anything new, but you’re also failing to engage an important part of your brain.

4. You’ll enrich your quality of life. If you’re willing to say “yes” to an exciting opportunity, you open up a world of experiences and possibilities for yourself. Instead of questioning why the opportunity fell into your lap, embrace it!

5. One good decision has a way of leading to another. Positivity has a way of building on itself. When you see something good happen as a result of a decision that you’ve made, you’re more confident when it comes to making the next decision.

Embrace change and invite health, wealth and happiness into your life by saying “yes” in 2015!
