With 400 to 600 kinds of box services in the United States alone, subscription boxes including food, beauty and clothing are constantly emerging. Tim Ray, CEO and founder of meat of the month club Carnivore Club, has five predictions about the future of subscription boxes:
- Explosion of micro-subscription boxes: There will be an expansion of these now that there are platforms that help aid young entrepreneurs with more creative and personal subscription box offerings.
- Hiring of professional services: Subscription box businesses will be hiring professional services for their business based on platforms like scalability, a subscription back-office service, rather than actual employees.
- Rise in revenue: A rise in revenue will occur due to the membership/subscription model allowing business to increase the value for all.
- Growth of Tier 1 CPG: There will be a growth of tier 1 Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies, such as Johnson & Johnson, offering direct-to- consumer subscriptions.
- Exhaustion of subscription model: Lastly, in 5-10 years there will be subscription fatigue once people will realize they have way too many subscription services as the model penetrates every facet of their lives.
