Hiring continued to expand across U.S. industries in August, according to the LinkedIn Workforce Report, with the greatest annual gains seen in agriculture (19.9% higher), transport and logistics (up 13%), and energy and mining (10.9% higher).
Rebounds were seen in:
- Houston, where hiring rose 20.3% in August from a year ago, when Hurricane Harvey hit.
- Retail, with some cities, including New York, San Francisco and Seattle, reporting outright shortages of workers in this industry, whose death may have been exaggerated.
