Spray equipment damage resulting from freezing temps were bigger last week than we have seen in a long time. Here are some photos of some of the damage we saw to pest control sprayer and weed control spray rigs in our spray equipment repair shop last week.
We have over 100 years of spray equipment experience in our repair shop. None of us had ever seen anything like this spray equipment freeze damage. This snow cone is actually a line strainer / filter that is frozen solid with herbicide and blue dye. Unbelieveable.
The ice in this fititng (left) caused the bushing (right) to split in multiple places.
Ice not only splits plastic, it splits metal. Check out this brass ball valve!
We have reports from clients that protected their equipment overnight, but that temps in AZ were so cold, that water in the lines froze on the way to the first stop.
Key principle of frozen power sprayers: If it is frozen, don’t run it. Let it thaw out to prevent worse damage.
Please share your photos of frozen equipment.
