Pandemic Squeezes Nonprofit Groups

Like most nonprofit founders, Van Brooks had to rethink how to run his organization once the pandemic hit. When Maryland shut down, Safe Alternative Founder for Education quickly adapted and began providing Zoom classes on everything from poetry to virtual workout classes with professional athletes, he told Maya Pope-Chappell in their most recent interview for LinkedIn’s “How I Got Here.” The health crisis has slammed nonprofit organizations across the country, forcing many to pivot and putting more than one-third at risk of closing, according to Candid and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy.
