A U.S. District Judge has ruled that Alex Jones cannot use his ongoing bankruptcy case as an excuse to not pay the $1.5 billion he owes to the families of Sandy Hook school shooting victims.

Judge Christopher Lopez ruled that bankruptcy protections don’t apply to damages Jones must pay due to his “willful and malicious” conduct.

Christopher Mattei, a Connecticut lawyer for the families said, “The families are pleased with the Court’s ruling that Jones’s malicious conduct will find no safe harbor in the bankruptcy court.”

“As a result, Jones will continue to be accountable for his actions into the future regardless of his claimed bankruptcy.”

Despite declaring bankruptcy, Jones has been living an extravagant lifestyle after his billion dollar judgement. Financial records revealed he spent over $93K on lifestyle expenses, including expensive meals, in July of this year alone.

Jones was sued by families of children slain in a school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut where 26 people were killed including 20 kindergarten aged children, after Jones weaponized his InfoWars program against them, repeatedly claiming the shooting was a hoax and the parents were paid by Democrats to push gun control.

In court, parents described having to move up to five times due to repeated death threats from Jones’ followers.

The families were awarded $1.5 billion in damages following a ruling against Jones. Jones quickly filed for bankruptcy after the ruling claiming he couldn’t afford the judgement.
