Macallan Bottle Sells for Record $1.1M

According to the New York Times, An auction house has shattered the sales record for a 750-milliliter bottle of single malt whiskey, purchased for a whopping $1.1 million by an anonymous buyer. The exceedingly rare 60-year-old bottle of Macallan Valerio Adami 1926, described as “the Holy Grail of the dark alcoholic spirit,” was one of a mere 24 bottles produced. The whereabouts of the other 23 are unknown, pushing up the value of the auction.
