Profile of Success with Zack Hurley

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

Don’t even try to work within the confines of the system. It will only frustrate you. An example of this is going through the standard corporate procedures when job hunting. It’s a total disaster and simply improbable that you will succeed. But if you go through the proverbial “side door”, access is infinitely easier. I have helped many friends and family get jobs this way. I love the looks on their faces when they say, are you serious? You want me to do what?

Name a person who helped you along the way?

My great friend Pat Murray has been an incredible support structure for me. For years we’ve helped each other “mastermind” through difficult times within our entrepreneurial ventures and now with us both starting families we’re going through similar experiences. Pat is one of those rare humans who always has your back and genuinely wants to help those around him. Check out his current venture, here: OnAirParking

What do you see as your greatest success in life, so far?

I know this sounds cliche, but having a kid is by far the coolest thing I’ve ever done in life and I doubt any business accomplishment will match!

What book would you recommend and why?

“How to win friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie – It’s really the foundational book for anyone who wants to reshape the way they think and act in the world. It’s old but still 100% relevant today.

What’s a personal self-talk, mantra, affirmation or self-belief that contributes to your success?

SCREW IT LET’S DO IT – SIR Richard Branson
