What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?
Carving out the time to create my future. It took me three years to write my book. I tried myself and couldn’t get it done. I finally found a book writing coach and her process allowed me to get that done. I work best with coaches and I make the best transformations when I have a strong guide.
What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?
Do what brings you joy and energy, even if people tell you it it not realistic. My colleagues would say, oh if a client wants you to write a plan, you just do it or farm it out. That did not feel good to me. I wanted to coach, lead and train, not write plans. I developed a business model that works for me and my strengths and gives me energy. Just because someone is willing to pay you, doesn’t mean you do it. It puts the client in the leadership position. I am the leader of my business. I say how I work. Stick to it. Be devoted and it will happen.
Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?
Michelle Villalobos and Jen Vera at Superstar Activator transformed me. I attended their business breakthrough retreat and it changed everything for me. We have created a culture of shared success and it is so fulfilling.
Name a person who helped you along the way?
Melanie Scheetz at Foster and Adoptive Care Coalition. She always sees me for my highest and best self. I’ve done work for her, and I have served on their board and been a client. When I told her about the workshops, she immediately kicked me off the board and is sending six people from the organization! I support her as well.
