Profiles of Success with Stephanie Osborn

What do you see as your greatest success in life, so far?

A list of successful Space Shuttle missions for which I served as a flight controller in the Payload Ops Control Center, out of Huntsville, Alabama, and the scientific discoveries made on those missions, many of which were incredibly cool. It was neat to sit console and watch the video come in and realize you were among the first people in the world to ever see the phenomenon onscreen.

How can people contact you?

You can contact me from my website (http://www.stephanie-osborn.com/) or by emailing steph@stephanie-osborn.com. Or you can visit me on Facebook! I’m also on Twitter and MeWe, but not as much.

What book would you recommend and why?

You want one of my own books, or someone else’s? Of my books, I think I’d suggest a new reader check out Burnout: The mystery of Space Shuttle STS-281, or the first book of the Division One series, Alpha and Omega. Also pretty much any of my popular science books that interests you.

How do you deal with fear?

I have anxiety disorder, so that’s a fact of life for me. As nearly as I can tell from my research, it’s a neurochemical thing, so I try to eat healthily and take the appropriate supplements to help support all that. And again, I try not to dwell on it; I can spiral right on down if I’m not careful.

But again, I find the best way to deal with negative emotions is simply to dive into my writing.

What’s a personal self-talk, mantra, affirmation or self-belief that contributes to your success?             “I can do this.”
