Say what you will about China, but these people get things done! Tuesday, October 23, 2018, will see the world’s longest sea bridge, Greater Bay Area, open in China, linking up Hong Kong and Macau to the mainland city of Zhuhai. The $20 billion project is opening after nine years of construction and over two years of delays. The six-lane bridge is 34 miles long — 20 times the length of the Golden Gate bridge — and will join 11 cities and approximately 70 million people. The bridge boosts “business ties between mainland Chinese manufacturing cities and the financial hub of Hong Kong as well as the gambling enclave of Macau,” merging an economic zone that boasts a joint GDP of $1.51 trillion, according to The Wall Street Journal.
