America is in a literacy crisis. Is AI the solution or part of the problem?

America’s reading and literacy levels have dropped sharply, particularly among students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, prompting concern among educators, parents, and policy makers. Test scores show declines in reading proficiency across various grade levels, raising alarms about a “literacy crisis” in schools. Schools are now facing pressure to find ways to reverse these declines and support students who have fallen behind.
