Chick-fil-A confirms it will close all 3,000 locations for Easter

Chick-fil-A has confirmed in will close for 24 hours in just a few weeks, impacting all 3,000 locations.

The popular chain will shut its doors for Easter Sunday, reflecting the company founder’s Christian values.

Easter, a Christian holiday marking the end of Lent, will be celebrated this year on Sunday, April 20.

This practice stems from the company’s founder, S. Truett Cathy’s, Christian religious beliefs and his commitment to Sunday Sabbatarianism.

Given these values, the company is also closed every Sunday allowing staff to rest and practice religion if they choose.

The chain is also always closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The company says this decision also allows restaurant teams to spend time with family and friends.

Chick-fil-A is not the only restaurant that will be closed this Easter.

Other chains will also be closed next week including Wendy’s and Cava.

Meanwhile, some restaurants will remain open including Cracker Barrel, Golden Corral and select Applebee’s.

Popeyes is also open on the major holiday, allowing it to scoop up business from Chick-fil-A.

The chicken chain typically remains open on Easter Sunday but hours may vary by location.

While many Popeyes locations operate during regular hours, it’s always a good idea to check with your local restaurant for any special holiday hours.

Shoppers in need of last-minute groceries and gifts will also be able to turn to a few popular chains.

SOME SHOPS OPEN

For example, Dollar Tree confirmed to The U.S. Sun that it would remain open next Sunday.

Shoppers can expect Dollar Tree to keep its roughly 16,800 stores throughout the US and Canada open on the springtime holiday.

Dollar Tree remains open for most federal and bank holidays but generally shuts down all of its locations on Christmas.

Not all major retailers have shared their 2025 holiday schedules yet, but consumers can reasonably predict if a store will be open or closed on Easter Sunday based on previous years.

For example, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, and Kroger all kept their stores open as normal on Easter last year.

LAST MINUTE EASTER DEALS

Although Dollar Tree and several other stores will be open on Easter, many national retail chains will shut their doors for 24 hours to commemorate the holiday and permit employees time at home with loved ones.

Major chains like Dollar Tree are encouraging shoppers to visit the chain to score last minute discount deals before April 20.
