Profiles of Success with Gui Costin

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

My Mom, who is a successful entrepreneur and her wisdom. Best line ever: “If you are ever in fear, get into action immediately.” My step-father, who has given me a lifetime of guidance and kindness.

Name a person who helped you along the way?

Alan Breed, President of Edgewood, our longest standing client, who is the finest leader and business person I have ever encountered. For 13 years he has been in my camp, helped me, guided me and supported our initiatives. I’d be nothing without him and his firm.

What do you see as your greatest success in life, so far?

The term success is a somewhat meaningless term for me but results are so fleeting. You are only as good as your last win. That being said, my greatest success has been creating a company that can employ and help grow so many people’s careers and serve our clients.

What book would you recommend and why?

StoryBrand by Donald Miller. Best marketing book of all time. SB 7 part framework. It will change your view on how you talk about your product.

How do you deal with fear?

Just like my mother always told me, if you feel fear, get into Action. I simply get into action and never, ever feel sorry for myself.

What’s a personal self-talk, mantra, affirmation or self-belief that contributes to your success?

The single most important thing to me is to take time each day to think. In the morning, find some quiet place and think. Think through the things that you are doing. Reflect. It is where my best ideas come from.
