Rocker Elaine Bradley Talks Neon Trees, God, Mormons, and Family

Hi I’m Elaine

I grew up in the Midwest (Nebraska, Missouri, Indiana, and Illinois). I served a mission in Frankfurt, Germany. I went to school at BYU, and ended up staying in Utah. I have a husband, who is my best friend, and a son. I play the drums for a living. I love being active – working out, playing sports, hiking, biking, etc. And I love laughing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. It sounds simple, but everything really hinges upon this one thing. By reading, and then praying about it, I was able to feel that it is true. Once I felt that, I couldn’t deny it, and so I had to decide what to do about it. And so I try to live by its teachings, which include the teachings of the Bible. Quite possibly the coolest thing about it, is what it means…If Joseph Smith was given the Book of Mormon by revelation, then that means that he was a prophet, which means that God still calls prophets to lead His people. What a blessing!

How I live my faith

My profession does not allow me to be home very often, so I don’t have a specific responsibility at church when I am home. I love those Sundays when I am able to attend chruch with my family. Church attendance has become more of luxury, which has made me appreciate it more, and it has made me understand that there is so much more to living my faith than attending church. I read the scriptures, pray, and look for ways to always be better. It’s not a checklist of things to do, but rather a way of living.
