HOUSTON, Texas (July 7, 2023) — RouTTe One Productions, a non-profit production company co-founded by animal crusaders and philanthropists Tena Lundquist Faust and Tama Lundquist, is introducing its first documentary film, For the Animals. RouTTe One collaborated with Siddhayatan Tirth Productions and award-winning filmmakers Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti to create this powerful 73-minute film which debuts Friday, July 28 in select theaters and digital platforms worldwide.
This film chronicles the inspiring journey of identical twin sisters Tena and Tama as they courageously surveil and assess the plight of abused, neglected, and discarded companion animals. Their efforts go beyond rescue – Tena and Tama relentlessly strategize to create long-term change and combat the animal homelessness problem at a systemic level. This serious animal overpopulation issue is one that these crusaders call “Houston’s dirty little secret.”
With its gripping storytelling and heartfelt portrayal, the movie shines a bright light on the cruelty and neglect that these animals are experiencing – and the compassion, collaboration, and extensive resources that are essential to increasing awareness and effecting meaningful change. The message of For the Animals goes beyond the immediate issues at hand, urging viewers to act as individuals and groups, raise awareness and funds, and become advocates for animal welfare in their own communities.
“The issue we face in the South stems from a complex interplay of cultural norms, lack of enforcement, and overbreeding. It’s a perfect storm that tarnishes the reputation of our great city of Houston and impedes progress,” commented Tama. “To overcome this challenge, city and county leaders must step up and collaborate with state and national authorities. With the right leadership and action, this problem can be solved, and we can pave the way for a more compassionate society.”

For the Animals lays the foundation for mobilizing grassroots initiatives in communities all over the U.S. and around the world,” Tena commented. “We intend to inspire individuals and communities to rally behind this cause in any way possible – through volunteering, fostering or adopting animals, appealing to elected officials, contributing pet food or supplies, hosting animal health clinics, or donating funds.”
The sisters met co-producers and co-directors, Sadhvi Siddhali Shree and Sadhvi Anubhuti at a fundraiser supporting Surviving Sex Trafficking, their documentary that examines the ongoing struggles of sex trafficking survivors as they desperately fight to break free of their past, heal their bodies and minds, reconnect with a world of hope, and reclaim their lost humanity. These four incredible women connected instantly through their compassion and dedication to making the world a better place for all humans and animals alike.
