Located in Wauseon, Ohio, Haas Door was recognized for the company’s commitment to providing expansive ongoing workplace training for its employees.

“This award is earned by what a company does in the workplace on a continual basis to reinforce employee safety and training,” says Dennis McMickens, president and CEO of Safety Council of Northwest Ohio. “It’s been my distinct pleasure to witness first-hand in 2019 the level of dedication Haas Door has to training its employees.

“I’ve led Haas Door team members in monthly training sessions for all shifts in a variety of topics. We’ve trained on heat stress, active shooter scenarios, slips, trips and falls, hazard communication, and a wide range of other sessions. Haas Door’s management has made an investment in safety training and education through the Safety Council that will continue to make them a high-quality employer in our area.”

Criteria for the Safety Training Award of Excellence includes, but is not limited to, the number of employees trained by the Safety Council, range of training, and financial investment into the safety training itself.

“Workplace safety is our first and highest priority at Haas Door,” says Jeffrey Nofziger, president of Haas Door. “We invest in ongoing training for employees throughout our facility — whether they’re on the plant floor or part of our office team. There’s simply nothing more important than keeping our team members safe in their workplace environment.”

Founded in 1960, the Safety Council provides educational programs and services that improve the safety, health and environment within workplaces and communities throughout northwest Ohio. The non-profit organization delivers affordable training programs that meet and exceed OSHA standards.

“The commitment toward safety training at Haas Door serves as an excellent example to other companies in our area,” says McMickens. “Clearly their management team sets the training bar high because the safety of their employees is so important to all of them.”
