US breaks another record in new cases

The U.S. has once again broken a single-day record for new coronavirus cases, reporting over 68,000 on Thursday, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The surging rate of infection, along with rising fatalities, has prompted more than half of states and some cities to issue orders for residents to wear masks in public. Georgia’s governor, meanwhile, sued Atlanta officials for continuing to require masks after he suspended such mandates in the state.
