Jennifer Lopez’s $90 Million Las Vegas Residency Deal At Risk Of Falling Through

Jennifer Lopez out and about in New York promoting 'Marry Me'

According to the New York Post, the $90 million Las Vegas residency deal Lopez was recently negotiating appears to be on shaky ground due to the disappointing performance of her new album and tour.

Previously, a February 2 report from The Mirror claimed that MGM had partnered with Live Nation to offer the “Let’s Get Loud” singer more than $800,000 per show.

According to another source, rival casino Resorts World then increased the bid to $875,000 per show in collaboration with Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG). MGM and Live Nation subsequently made a $1 million-per-show offer for the singer for 90 performances starting next year.

However, an insider indicated that casino executives have become wary of the agreement and now have buyer’s remorse.

“MGM is watching her not doing well on the road. They are very nervous,” the insider explained. “It’s pretty rare you have a poor tour and then go to Vegas.”

Given the current circumstances, the insider shared that Lopez may see her potential $90 million deal significantly reduced, adding that a Lopez residency might now command just $600,000 to $650,000 per show with fewer performances.

Another source familiar with the MGM negotiations confirmed that no deal has been signed, though discussions are ongoing.

Lopez’s latest album, “This is Me … Now,” has become the worst-selling of her career. Ticket sales for her upcoming concert tour, which starts next month, are also disappointing.

Per the insider, the poor ticket sales have left MGM executives reportedly concerned about Lopez’s declining star power and her ability to fill the 5,200-seat Park Theater, given the significant financial commitment involved.

The source indicated that the Bronx-born star is struggling to sell out the 19,500-seat T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for her July 20 tour stop, with a third of the high-priced floor tickets and many cheaper options — some as low as $65 — still available, according to Ticketmaster.

Additionally, Variety reported that seven tour dates in cities like Atlanta, New Orleans, and Houston were canceled this summer, raising concerns about the viability of the residency.

Historically, Lopez has been a strong draw for casinos. Caesars previously guaranteed the “Done Again” hitmaker around $500,000 per show for her Planet Hollywood residency, which spanned 120 shows between 2016 and 2018.

According to Billboard, the residency grossed $101.9 million, making it the sixth highest-grossing Las Vegas residency of all time and the top residency by a Latin artist.

Lopez’s poor ticket comes after speculations that her high-profile marriage to Ben Affleck is facing difficulties. The couple has seldom been seen together in recent weeks, and Affleck did not attend the premiere of his wife’s new film “Atlas,” which debuted on Netflix.

While the 54-year-old walked the red carpet to celebrate her film “Atlas,” which she stars in and co-produced, Affleck was busy filming “The Accountant 2.” He was photographed on the film’s set in Los Angeles on May 20.

Furthermore, multiple sources have told People magazine that Affleck and Lopez are living separately while both are in Los Angeles. An insider mentioned that they “did not celebrate Mother’s Day together.”

Regarding the strain on their relationship, a source told the news outlet, “They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention. Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach.”

Despite the rumors, the famous couple has stayed silent, but an Entertainment Tonight source said, “Jen and Ben’s relationship is not over yet, but the tension has been high.”

They added, “They are taking a second to figure out what each of them is going through and wants. Both of them have been very down.”
