Why did you become an entrepreneur, speaker, author, etc in the first place?

I became an entrepreneur because I’m not satisfied with the way things are now. I want the best shot at changing them and to do that I have to be in a framework that allows me to pave the way rather than follow the way.

How do you deal with fear?

The instinctual feeling of fear is not something we can avoid. That jerk reaction and pit in your stomach is not something to eliminate. I’ve learned, however, that the physiological reaction your body has when you’re scared is almost never equal in severity to the thing it’s triggered by. Our animal bodies only have one fear trigger and it goes off whether we’re going to be eaten by a lion or if we’re in a potentially embarrassing situation, or if we’re calling someone we’ve never met to try to convince them to try our product/service. The feelings are very similar and have a sliding scale of intensity. Once you understand this, you realize you’re in your body and there’s nothing you can do about it. But you can leverage your mind to get you to a place where your actions derive from choices you make in the mind. Often when I’m scared to do something, it means I should go for it. Taking massive action in the face of fear has always helped me whether I’m public speaking or jumping off airplanes.

How do you deal with rejection?

I deal with rejection by accumulating as much rejection as I can get so that I have a lesson I can learn from it. A sample size of one is not enough to be meaningful. I try to focus on statistics when it comes to rejection rather than emotions. This allows me to not get crippled when someone says no, but rather allows me to “check them off the box”. Lastly, I tend to be extremely headstrong when I am rejected in that, while I don’t let it bother me, I will, always, find out the reason why I was rejected. A simple rejection with no background doesn’t cut it for me.

What’s the name of your company? What exactly does your company do, how do you help people?

Indie Source is an apparel manufacturer that is shaking up the antiquated model of manufacturing that still dominates the industry today. We help entrepreneurs and creatives take an idea out of their head and develop it into a solid product while also helping them to tell their story by building them strong websites and sharing their brand to the right audience through growth marketing. We truly are a full-package manufacturer (most only claim to be). We are in the business of making wildest dreams come true.

Name one of the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome it?

Anyone who has started a business with little/no capital knows how grueling this can be. Indie Source started like that.  We didn’t have two pennies to rub together, but we were clear about our intention and knew that if we could solve problems for others we would be able to build something from nothing.
