Profiles of Success with Adriana Alvarez

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.

Hi I’m Adriana Monique Alvarez and I am the founder of AMA Publishing. I am here to provide platforms for humanity to tell their truth in the most authentic way.

Why did you become an entrepreneur, speaker, author, etc in the first place?

My husband and I were newlyweds and we couldn’t see ourselves going to jobs we disliked, having dinner, watching TV and doing it again. We wanted to travel the world and we wanted to work we loved.

Tell us, how do you deal with fear?

After many years of trying to outrun fear I now slow down and ask myself what I’m afraid of and why it’s showing up now.

Tell us, how do you deal with rejection?

I created ways to deal with rejection on a regular basis so I could acclimate to it and not be bothered by it. For one year I did 20-40 sales calls a week until I didn’t even flinch at a no.

What’s the name of your company? What exactly does your company do, how do you help people?

AMA Publishing helps authors either write their solo book or contribute to a multi-author book. We also provide ways for authors to speak on the TEDx stage and we have an online networking group similar to BNI.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

Our first challenge was starting our business right after the real estate market crashed. We had two babies in twelve months and then I had a stillbirth at 38 weeks. My husband and I stuck together and we did that because we have quality time together every week.

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

Only work with people who respect you.

Who are your biggest influences and people you admire and why?

I’m not a person who follows online gurus, but I love watching documentaries on people like Fred Rogers, Mother Theresa, and Kevin Hart. I admire the journey and those who are willing to share their life behind the scenes.

These three have HUGE hearts and change the world by being themselves.

Name a person who helped you along the way?

My parents have helped me more times than I can count!

What do you see as your greatest success in life, so far?

My family is by far my greatest success in life.

What book would you recommend and why?

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself by Dr. Joe Dispenza

He so beautifully teaches how we hold all the power in our lives.

What’s a personal self-talk, mantra, affirmation or self-belief that contributes to your success?

I wake up every morning and ask, what is in my power to day today.

It always keeps me moving forward.
