Profiles of Success with Annie Scranton

Tell us your name and a little about yourself.

My name is Annie Pace Scranton and I’m the Founder and President of Pace Public Relations, a boutique media relations firm in NYC.

Why did you become an entrepreneur, speaker, author, etc in the first place?

I stumbled into it! I became a publicist after I got let go from my producing job when the show was canceled. A professional contact asked if I would be interested in helping with PR and it came naturally – from there the idea was borne to start my own PR firm.

Tell us, how do you deal with fear?

Usually I talk it to death with my husband, mom, friends, colleagues and family. I try to reassure myself that if I have fears about my business, we’ve now been successfully running for ten years — which, I think, means we’ve got at least another ten in us!

Tell us, how do you deal with rejection?

Personally! It’s hard not to, right?

What’s the name of your company? What exactly does your company do, how do you help people?

My company name is Pace Public Relations. We help people, companies, brand and products get recognized in the media though TV interviews, radio & podcast bookings and features in newspapers, magazines and major websites.

What were the biggest challenges you have faced and how did you overcome them?

I’ve never taken a business or finance class, so I still struggle sometimes with figuring out how to grow & scale my business in the smartest way possible. I just keep reading as much as I can and talking to as many people as I can who are smarter than I am for help!

What piece of advice do you wish someone had given you at the start of your career?

Don’t stress as much. If you work hard, good things will happen. I still don’t know how to stop stressing as much as I’d like to.
